New from the Desk of the Select Board - August 22  2023 Update

  1.  Introduction to Dr. Andre Bennett, Executive Director of SYFS

    • Dr. Andre Bennett, the new Executive Director of Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services met with the Select Board to introduce himself, shared information on upcoming events, and provided a general update on current operations and what his vision is for the future of SYFS.

  2. Intermunicipal Agreement for Public Health Services

    • The Town is part of a regional public health model known as the Central Massachusetts Regional Public Health Alliance (CMRPHA) consisting of the Towns of Grafton, Shrewsbury, West Boylston and the City of Worcester.

      The current intermunicipal agreement (IMA) for public health services with the City of Worcester is set to expire June 30, 2023. This iteration of the agreement dates back to August 8, 2019 and was last amended on March 22, 2022. 

      The Board approved amending and extending the intermunicipal agreement for public health services between the Town of Shrewsbury and the City of Worcester. 

  3. Complete Streets Committee Appointments

    • The Board reappointed the members of the Complete Streets Committee - James V. Brown - Parks and Cemetery Commission, Jeffrey Howland - DPW Director, Nick Repekta - Highway Division Manager, Patricia Sheehan - Building Inspector, Andy Truman - Engineering and Conservation Division Manager, and Keith Baldinger - Assistant Town Manager - Operations. The Planning Board will also have a designee appointed at a later date. Christopher McGoldrick - PED Director had already been appointed previously.
  4. Special Town Meeting October 16, 2023 at 7:00 PM

    • The Board called for the Fall Special Town Meeting to be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Oak Middle School, 45 Oak Street.

      This is the Town’s traditional fall special town meeting, where the Town handles financial adjustments since nearly all revenue numbers have been finalized including the State budget and new growth within the tax levy, along with other legislative matters, and project proposals.  

  5. Select Board Office Hours Reminder

    • The Board will be holding Office Hours on September 12, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM in Conference Room A at the Town Hall.
