[ARCHIVED] Vacancy Notice: Commission on Disabilities

The Town Manager is seeking qualified individuals to fill two vacant seats on the Commission on Disabilities with terms set to expire on June 30, 2022, and June 30, 2024. Interested applicants must submit a resume and letter of interest to the Town Manager's Office, 100 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA 01545, or by email to by no later than 4:30 pm on May 17, 2022.

The Commission on Disabilities is established under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 8(j), and consists of seven members appointed by the Town Manager and further approved by the Board of Selectmen. It is the goal of the Commission to bring about the full and equal participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. The Commission works to assure the advancement of legal rights and for the promotion of maximum opportunities, supportive services, accommodations, and accessibility in a manner which fosters dignity and self-determination. The Commission accomplishes this work through reviewing and commenting on Architectural Access Board (AAB) Variance Applications, recognizing businesses for outstanding disability-friendly services, and promoting the awareness of the needs of people with disabilities.

Pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 40, Section 8(j), one of the vacant positions must be filled by a person with disabilities. If you have any questions regarding the work of the Commission on Disabilities, please contact the Town Manager's office at 508-841-8508 or by email at
