[ARCHIVED] Permit System Outage

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services (or AWS) is one of the largest cloud computing hosting providers in the world.  Our permitting application, Permit Pro, is hosted on AWS.  Currently there is an issue with the storage component of AWS, called Amazon Simple Storage Services (or Amazon S3).  Applications on AWS that use S3 are experiencing a high rate of errors.

Top websites around the world are being affected.  A list of affected companies includes; Trello, Yahoo, Imgur, Docker, Quora, Expedia, Giphy, Sailthru, Slack and many more.  Amazon has not posted a timeline for repairs.  Even their own website to track the service status is down.

This "rolling outage" is widespread and affecting servers located on the the Eastern Seaboard.  Many companies who use Amazon AWS and S3 are being negatively impacted.  In some cases the websites are shut down completely.  Our permitting application is still operational; but, we are experiencing issues with performance.

Until such time that Amazon announces that their service is back to normal, our best recommendation is to use our permit system for reference (look up) only.  While our system remains operational, prudence would suggest that we wait for an "all-clear" from Amazon.

For more information, check with Amazon directly at - https://status.aws.amazon.com/

Once we are made aware that the service has been restored; we will advise you.
