11 additional positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Town of Shrewsbury since March 22, 2021 bringing the cumulative total to 2,695.
We are urging Shrewsbury residents to consider their own responsibility to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. We are still seeing community spread occurring despite vaccination efforts. It is crucial for us to keep our guards up and remain vigilant until herd immunity is achieved.
The most effective ways to reduce your risk in contracting the virus and preventing the spread are:
Wear a mask.
Wash your hands.
↔️Keep your distance.
🧴Clean & Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Stay home if you are sick or a household member is sick or waiting for test results.
Vaccine Info: Residents in Phase 1 or Phase 2, Group 1 (individuals age 75+ or individuals accompanying a 75+ resident), Phase 2, Group 2 (ages 60+, those with two or more medical conditions, and residents and staff of low income and affordable senior housing), K-12 Educators, Child Care Workers and K-12 School Staff and certain workers are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine now. All residents can preregister to book an appointment at a mass vaccination site at mass.gov/COVIDVaccine or dial Mass 2-1-1 for assistance. Residents age 60+ may call the Shrewsbury Senior Center at 508-841-8640 or Mass 2-1-1 for assistance.
Appointments will be offered based on eligibility and available appointments nearby. It is expected that more sites will come online as part of the preregistration process in April.
Timeline for remaining groups:
- April 5th: Residents 55+ and residents with one certain medical condition
- April 19th: General public ages 16 years of age and older
The full timeline is available at mass.gov/COVIDVaccinePhases. The Administration has received assurances from the federal government that an increased vaccine supply will be available to states soon. Depending on supply, it could take weeks for people to be notified that an appointment is available at a mass vaccination site.
Positive COVID-19 case reports will be updated each weekday. Weekend updates will be included in the Monday report. Click the link below for the press release.
