On behalf of the Town of Shrewsbury, National Water Main Cleaning Company will be performing sanitary sewer system maintenance in the State Street and Boylston Circle areas on Friday, January 8, 2021, between 7AM and 5PM. This work includes cleaning and video inspecting sewer mains in these areas. Streets included in the State Street area of this project include State Street, Garfield Avenue, Winslow Street, Empire Street, and a section of Main Boulevard. Streets included in the Boylston Circle area of this project include Boylston Circle, Wheelock Street, a section of Gulf Street, a section of Wachusett Circle, and Sturbridge Circle. Please see the attached maps for more information.
This maintenance is being performed as part of Shrewsbury’s ongoing Sewer System Infiltration Rehabilitation Program. The purpose of the investigations is to locate structural defects and/or sources of groundwater entering the sanitary sewer. By removing this extra flow, Shrewsbury will reduce the amount of wastewater it sends to the regional Westborough Wastewater Treatment Plant. Identifying and rehabilitating structural defects in a proactive manner will reduce the chances of sewer system failures.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience during this work and appreciate your continued cooperation while we strive to improve our sanitary sewer system.
Please contact the Department of Public Works at 508-841-8502 or watersewer@shrewsburyma.gov with questions.
