The Town of Shrewsbury is completing its triennial certification program with the Department of Revenue. Their audit is done to certify that the assessed values in the town were derived utilizing a methodology based on generally accepted mass appraisal practices and that they are supported with current market evidence and are uniformly and equitably applied to all properties. Values have been reviewed and adjusted to the market as of January 1, 2016. The new values are pending final certification.
Due to a review of all properties and changes many values have slightly changed due to the continued improving market. The purpose of the review is for property owners to ask us questions, discuss and request changes in proposed value – and determine if there is an error in the property data.
Copies of the new values are in the library, at the assessors’ office counter and on line at http://www.shrewsburyma.gov/values We are available to discuss the new values from Thursday November 10 Thursday November 17, 2016 8.00 AM to 4.30 PM. If you have any questions, please contact us during these hours either in person or phone at 508-841-8501.
