November 10, 2020, 5:30 p.m. unidirectional flushing update: flushing is completed for the day and will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11th around 8:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Today, contractor Hydra Tech flushed North Quinsigamond Avenue from Main Street to the Postal Distribution Center (one of two mains)

On Monday, November 9th they flushed Old Mill Road from Harrington Avenue to Maple Avenue.

Weather permitting, Hydra Tech will start flushing around 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11th and will start on the first sequence in the list below and will progress in order. It is difficult to estimate how the work will progress each day so this may be optimistic but is provided to better inform everyone in the area that may be flushed. Flushing is expected to be finished around 6:00p.m.

1. North Quinsigamond Avenue from the Postal Distribution Center to Route 9 and the adjoining side streets including the second water main that services the Lear Street area.

2. Audubon Drive

3. Oriole Circle

4. Flamingo Circle

5. Sandpiper Drive

6. Egret Circle

7. Cardinal Circle

8. Willet Drive

9. Swan Circle

10. Mallard Circle

11. Odonnell Avenue

12. Ptarmigan Drive

When the unidirectional flushing program was developed, the Town was divided into 12 zones to make managing the program easier. Hydra Tech is also scheduled to complete flushing in Zones 7, and 8 this fall. Zones 7 and 8 require valve replacements in order for unidirectional flushing to be completed correctly.  We will be scheduling these replacements over the next few weeks. Please see the attached map for more information about the location of the Zones.

For additional information please visit: updates will be provided at the end of each day as the flushing progresses.

Due to the flushing, residents in the identified area as well as those in the vicinity of the project may experience brief periods of interrupted service, reduced pressure, or discolored water.

If you experience discolored water once the flushing is complete, please run the cold water in downstairs bathtub until it clears.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions please contact the Water and Sewer Division at 508-841-8506.
