After a successful grant application by Keith Baldinger, Public Facilities Division Manager, the Town of Shrewsbury was awarded $184,302 for energy efficient and clean energy projects. The funds will be used for :
The replacement of eight roof top HVAC units at Parker Road Preschool with an approximate value of $130,000. The existing units are well beyond their useful life, and will be updated with new high efficiency units.
The retrofit of 16 250w quartz lights at the Shrewsbury High School Commons area with new LED bulbs. This has an approximate value of $6,500. The two High School projects have an estimated cost savings of $17,000.
The replacement of 24 metal halide fixtures at the Floral Street Elementary School with new LED fixtures. This has an approximate value of $7,035, and $3,038 per year in electrical savings.
The replacement of 41 flourescent fixtures at the Oak Middle School with new LED fixtures. This has an approximate value of $12,835, and a savings of $4,400 per year in electrical savings.
