[ARCHIVED] Public Health Advisory: Dean Park Pond Remains Closed

Dean Park Pond Closed due to high levels of E. Coli

Update as of July 16, 2020 - Dean Park Pond in Shrewsbury remains closed until further notice because weekly laboratory testing is still reflecting high levels of E. Coli.

Prior communication:

July 10, 2020 - Dean Park Pond in Shrewsbury is closed until further notice because of laboratory testing showing high levels of E. Coli.

During our routine seasonal weekly water quality monitoring of select bodies of water in Shrewsbury, high levels of E. Coli were detected in the pond at Dean Park.

The Worcester Division of Public Health (WDPH) and the Town of Shrewsbury’s Board of Health has ordered the pond closed. The pond will remain closed until further laboratory tests reveal acceptable and safe water quality limits.

Town officials encourage individuals and their pets to avoid contact with the pond, including fishing, until further notice.

Dean Park Pond is located off of Main Street in Shrewsbury.
