[ARCHIVED] July 27, 2020 update from the Water & Sewer Division - Walnut St water main work

Haluch Water Contracting has completed the installation of the majority of the replacement water main on Walnut Street and are beginning to connect house services to the new main. They will be connecting house services starting at Main Circle and will progress down Walnut Street. They anticipate completing 3-5 of these connections each day, depending on field conditions. The disruption to water service should be brief as they will prepare the connection before turning the water off to the individual houses. Water service is typically interrupted for each house for less than an hour as they make the connection. They will also be installing fire hydrants and will complete the installation of the new water main near the culvert between 42 and 52 Walnut Street over the next few weeks.

Walnut Street will be closed between Main Circle and Hillando Drive Monday – Friday while work is taking place from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, weather permitting. Local traffic will be allowed to pass whenever possible, however due to the narrow width of Walnut Street in some areas this may not be possible at all times. A detour route using Floral Street, South Street, and Main Street has been established. Please see the attached map for more information and the detour route.

Additional updates will be provided as the project progresses.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to make improvements to our water distribution system to ensure reliability and good water quality. Please contact the Department of Public Works at 508-841-8502 or with questions.
