Reopening Guidelines

Issued July 2, 2020- Updated March 30, 2021


Town Hall

(including School Department & SELCO)

Town Hall will be reopening to the public on May 5, 2021 by appointment only for services that cannot be handled online or over the phone. Staffing will resume to 75% capacity and some employees will still be working remotely. Appointments will be scheduled by individual departments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between the hours of 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Town of Shrewsbury continues to urge residents, taxpayers and others to utilize our online services including paying bills, applying for permits and licenses and other routine and complex business matters. Further, we are prepared to meet with you via video conferencing for a more personal interaction.

Senior Center


The Senior Center building remains closed to the public at this time. The following services are being provided:

Meals on Wheels will continue to operate through the Council on Aging at this time. Grab & Go hot meals will be available at the Senior Center Monday through Friday 11:15 am - 11:45 am and can be picked up behind the Senior Center at the kitchen door, masks required. You must call 50Senior Center Building and Sign with text - Senior Center8-841-8640, 48 hours ahead of time to reserve a meal and a donation of $2.50 is suggested. Transportation services through the Senior Center have resumed on a reduced service basis. At this time, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) riders and other essential requests such as dialysis, medical appointments, work, and grocery trips are accepted. All riders MUST wear a mask at all times. For more information contact Transportation Coordinator, Cynthia Willis at 508-523-1307.

The Council on Aging will have staff at 100% capacity beginning on May 3, 2021. The COA is welcoming residents back at the Senior center for outdoor activities beginning no May 10, 2021 with restrooms available. There will be seating under tents and tables with umbrellas. There will be sanitizing materials available. It is anticipated that indoor activities will resume on June 1, 2021 at 50% capacity.



Library

Shrewsbury Public Library

The Library will begin the next phase of expanded library services starting on May 17, 2021. The Library will continue to provide patrons access to items from their collection and items requested through inter-library loan and computer/printer/copier services. In addition to this, patrons may browse materials in the eastern wing of the library. The Shrewsbury Public Library continues to offer online resources and curb-side pickup. Parks & Recreation

Various parks and courts have reopened. In an effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus please follow these guidelines & reminders when using public facilities. Please wash your hands before and after visiting the park or bring hand sanitizer. Stay home if you are sick or not feeling well. Wear a face covering. If a park or open space area is too crowded, come back later or visit another park.

What’s open?
  • Town Parks and Trails
  • Donahue Rowing Center for single boats only. (Docks removed for the winter)
  • State Boat Ramps, see guidelines issued by the State Fishing & Boating Access
  • Tennis courts at Dean Park, Coolidge School/Jordan Pond and Oak Middle (No tennis lessons, tournaments or groups in tennis courts allowed)
  • Basketball Courts at Parks 
  • Playgrounds at Parks and Schools 
  • Restrooms at Dean Park
  • Permits issued to local existing Shrewsbury sports organizations who follow the state guidelines for Youth sports practices in groups of twelve. (Varies by Sports Organization- start dates vary by league) No new sports groups accepted at this time.  
  • School grounds open except during school hours/programs.
  • Picnic Permits for small groups @ Dean Park pavilions
