Reopening Guidelines

(including School Department & SELCO)

town hallTown Hall will be opening to the public on Tuesday July 7, 2020 for appointment only for essential services when other methods are not suitable. Appointments can be made between the hours of 9 AM - 12 PM and 1 PM - 3 PM, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.


The Town of Shrewsbury continues to urge residents, taxpayers and others to utilize our online services including paying bills, applying for permits and licenses and other routine and complex business matters. Further, we are prepared to meet with you via video conferencing for a more personal interaction.

If you require an in-person appointment, please call the office in which you are seeking an appointment for. A staff directory can be found here. If you are unsure which department you need, please call the Town Manager’s Office at 508-841-8508 an they will direct you. Appointment time slots should be no less than 15 minutes and no greater than 30 minutes . Please be advised that staff is still working on alternating weekly schedules and appointments will vary depending on the availability of employees. 

As mentioned above, we will ask pre-screening questions at the time you book your appointment. If you arrive without an appointment, we request you call us from outside the building  before entering. Appointments are not guaranteed as staff continues to work alternating schedules. All appointments will be logged by staff in a "Visitor’s Log" in accordance with state re-opening guidance. Last-minute appointments are not guaranteed as staff continues to work in an alternative staffing schedule. 

During the appointment booking process, staff will specify which door to enter. When you arrive at town hall, please call from the outside the department you have made an appointment with and they will let you in.  Please use hand sanitizer once you enter the building, which will be provided, wear a face-covering, and maintain social distancing. When using the elevator, please ride the elevator alone or only with members of your family.

Senior Center


The Senior Center building remains closed to the public at this time. The following services are being provided:

Meals on Wheels will continue to operate through the Council on Aging at this time. Grab & Go hot meals will be available at the Senior Center Monday through Friday 11:15 am - 11:45 am and can be picked up behind the Senior Center at the kitchen door, masks required. You must call 50Senior Center Building and Sign with text - Senior Center8-841-8640, 48 hours ahead of time to reserve a meal and a donation of $2.50 is suggested. Transportation services through the Senior Center have resumed on a reduced service basis. At this time, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) riders and other essential requests such as dialysis, medical appointments, work, and grocery trips are accepted. All riders MUST wear a mask at all times. For more information contact Transportation Coordinator, Cynthia Willis at 508-523-1307.



Library

Shrewsbury Public LibraryThe Shrewsbury Public Library continues to offer online resources and curb-side pickup. Curb-side pickup is a no-contact transaction and bags will be ready for pickup on tables outside the library. The Library is resuming partial services. Parks & Recreation

Various parks and courts have reopened. In an effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus please follow these guidelines & reminders when using public facilities. Please wash your hands before and after visiting the park or bring hand sanitizer. Stay home if you are sick or not feeling well. Wear a face covering. If a park or open space area is too crowded, come back later or visit another park. 


What’s open?
  • Town Parks and Trails
  • Donahue Rowing Center for single boats only.
  • State Boat Ramps, see guidelines issued by the State Fishing & Boating Access
  • Tennis courts at Dean Park, Coolidge School/Jordan Pond and Oak Middle (No tennis lessons, tournaments or groups in tennis courts allowed)
  • Basketball Courts at Parks 
  • Playgrounds at Parks and Schools 
  • Restrooms at Dean Park
  • Permits issued to local existing Shrewsbury sports organizations who follow the state guidelines for Youth sports practices in groups of twelve. (Varies by Sports Organization- start dates vary by league) No new sports groups accepted at this time.  
  • School grounds open except during school hours/programs.
