Reopening Guidelines

Effective Monday, August 16, 2021, following guidance from the CDC and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, all employees and visitors in all municipal buildings will be required to wear a face mask.*  

At this time, the Town of Shrewsbury is not requiring proof of vaccination from employees or visitors to Town Buildings. 

*Exemptions from the Mask Requirement: Those with medical and/or other eligible conditions.

The Town of Shrewsbury urges residents, taxpayers and others to continue utilizing our online services including paying bills, applying for permits and licenses. If you wish to get in contact with a specific department, please see our staff directory at https://shrewsburyma.gov/Directory.aspx.

Senior Center


All guests are required to wear masks or face coverings.*

Transportation services through the Senior Center have resumed as normal. At this time, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) riders and other essential requests such as dialysis, medical appointments, work, and grocery trips are accepted. All riders MUST wear a mask at all times. For more information contact Transportation Coordinator, Cynthia Willis at 508-841-8643.




Library

Shrewsbury Public Library

The Library reopened to the public, without the need of an appointment, on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Patrons can visit between 9 AM - 9 PM Monday- Thursday; 10 AM - 5 PM on Fridays and 9 AM - 5 PM on Saturdays to browse and check out books and other materials. Masks are required to be worn by patrons and staff while in the Library.* There will be no restrictions on the duration of time that patrons can spend in the library. Group study rooms will be available for booking. The Shrewsbury Public Library continues to offer online resources . Parks & Recreation

Parks and courts are open. Summer and Fall programs will be held at various outdoor locations.  Please wash your hands before and after visiting the park or bring hand sanitizer. Stay home if you are sick or not feeling well. If a park or open space area is too crowded, come back later or visit another park.

What’s open?
  • Town Parks and Trails
  • Donahue Rowing Center. ( All schools and groups received guidelines)
  • State Boat Ramps
  • Tennis courts at Dean Park, Coolidge School/Jordan Pond, and Oak Middle 
  • Basketball Courts at Parks 
  • Playgrounds at Parks and Schools 
  • Restrooms at Dean Park
  • Permits issued to local existing Shrewsbury sports organizations who follow the state guidelines for Youth sports. No new sports groups accepted at this time.  
  • School grounds open except during school/summer/programs
  • Picnic Permits for small groups @ Dean Park pavilions
  • Picnic Grove at Dean Park (permits start July 1, 2021 on select dates)
  • Special Event Requests

What’s closed?


  • School grounds and playgrounds closed when school is in session summer school/programs
