[ARCHIVED] May 27th Update from the Water and Sewer Division - Water Valve Cleaning and Exercising

Hydrant Flushing Photo

May 27, 2020 - Hydra Tech will continue water valve cleaning and exercising in a new section of town beginning today, to prepare for the continuation of the unidirectional flushing program. The hours of this work will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, weather permitting. The valve cleaning and exercising will take place between Route 140 and South Street.  Please see the attached map for more information.

The disruption to the water distribution system is expected to be minimal during the valve cleaning and exercising process.  However, residents within in the vicinity could experience brief periods of reduced pressure or discolored water. If you experience discolored water, please run the cold water from an outside faucet or downstairs bathtub, avoiding hot water use until it runs clear.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to make improvements to our water distribution system to ensure reliability and good water quality. Please contact the Department of Public Works at 508-841-8502 with questions, or visit for more details.
