[ARCHIVED] Message from the Shrewsbury D.P.W. Water & Sewer Division - Overnight Water Main Flushing

Water pump with text Shrewsbury Water Department and Established 1905 around pump

On Friday, October 25th, 2019, from 2:00 A.M. until 7:00 A.M., the Water and Sewer Division will be flushing the water mains on Westview Avenue, Monadnock Drive, and in the adjacent area on Main Street to ensure water quality. This flushing is being done to address areas in the system where the water mains end in cul-de-sacs or flushing has been completed seasonally.

While the water main flushing is taking place, residents in the surrounding areas may experience brief periods of reduced pressure or discolored water. Please refer to the attached map of the streets in which are anticipated to be impacted by this flushing, titled "Flushing Map 10-25-19". Affected streets include; Westview Ave, Monadnock Drive, Colton Lane, Gage Lane, Thestland Drive, along with portions of Main Street.

Please refrain from water-related activities such as food preparation or laundering of clothing in the affected areas during the time of the flushing, as to avoid introducing discoloring water into your residence. If discolored water is encountered after the flushing work is completed, please avoid hot water use and run your cold water from an outside faucet or first floor bathtub until the water runs clear.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. For any questions or concerns, please contact the DPW at (508)-841-8502.
