[ARCHIVED] Deadline Extended: Vacancy Notice: Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee

On June 11, 2019, the Board of Selectmen established an eight (8) member, Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee. The Board is seeking three (3) residents to serve as members on the committee. Interested persons should have a demonstrated interest and commitment to the matter of maintaining and enhancing the benefits of open space that together make up much of the character of the community and protect the “green infrastructure” of the community and must be a registered voter of the Town.


The scope of the charge is to provide guidance on research and analysis of community setting, environmental inventory, open space inventory and community needs.  Additionally, to review and provide feedback on document drafts including a survey, and provide feedback and insight needed to develop goals, objectives and action plan and to organize and promote participation in the community forum as well as promote survey participation.


The committee will receive staff support from the Assistant Town Planner, Recreation Coordinator, Conservation Agent, Parks and Cemetery Division Manager and Senior Civil Engineer and others as required.


Interested persons are asked to send a letter of interest by mail to Maurice DePalo, Chairman, Board of Selectmen, 100 Maple Avenue, or by email to selectmen@shrewsburyma.gov no later than 4:30pm on July 15, 2019.
