[ARCHIVED] Important information regarding upcoming changes to the Rubbish & Recycling Program

Dear Shrewsbury Residents,

We look forward to servicing the residents of the Town of Shrewsbury and helping the community to be as clean and green as possible. Waste Management is pleased to provide the following information in anticipation to upgrades in the services provided.


EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2019

Waste Management and the Town of Shrewsbury are proud to announce a new co-collection trash & recycling program. New enhanced recycling collection services will begin July 1, 2019. Shrewsbury residents should be receiving information in the mail by the end of May 2019. Also, effective July 1, 2019, the Solid Waste Program will fall under the Department of Public Works and no longer under the Board of Health.


New Recycling Collection Program

Beginning Monday, July 1, 2019, Recycling will be picked up EVERY week. Alternating paper & cardboard on YELLOW weeks and bottles and cans on GRAY weeks. 

Trash and recycling will be collected at the same time and in the same truck. Waste Management will use co-collector trucks which are able to keep trash and recyclables separated. A detailed calendar will be mailed out to residents by the end of May 2019.


RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE REMAINING SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING INFORMATIONAL MEETING LISTED BELOW:

Please feel free to attend the remaining event listed below hosted by the Town of Shrewsbury with personnel from Waste Management in attendance to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the new collection programs:

  • Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. - Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main Street

FREE Textile and small household goods recycling

Beginning on July 15, 2019, WasteZero will provide a free textile recycling program. Every household will receive an informational flyer along with a free pink bag to start. Visit www.simplerecycling.com for more information.
