[ARCHIVED] Notice from the Shrewsbury D.P.W.- Water & Sewer Division- Hydrant Flushing Update

hydrant-flushing2

All of the Crescent St. and Lake St. areas scheduled for hydrant flushing for today and tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14th, have been completed today.  The new schedule for Tuesday, May 14th, will be the following streets off of Maple Ave between 8AM- 3PM:  St. James Rd., Hapgood Way, Monroe St., Wiltshire Dr., Westport Dr., Westport Circle, Brightside Ave., Maple Circle, Richard Ave., Elma Circle, Daniel Rd., and Municipal Dr.  There will be no scheduled flushing for the rest of the workweek due to other Department work commitments.

Flushing will resume on Sunday, May 19th, on South Quinsigamond Ave.  Due to area businesses and traffic conflicts, work will begin at 5:00 AM south of the Boston Turnpike; continue the entire length of South Quinsigamond to Lake St., and follow down to the intersection of Hartford Turnpike.  Oak St. will be worked on next from the So. Quinsigamond intersection to the Robin Rd.-Bluegrass Lane area and adjacent streets.  We anticipate at this point the work will be from 5AM- 3PM on Sunday with any remaining areas off of South Quinsigamond Ave. and Oak St. completed on Monday, May 20th from 8AM- 3PM.

Residents should refrain from water related activities such as laundry and food preparation to avoid introducing discolored water into their residence.  If discolored water is encountered, please run only cold water from an outside faucet or downstairs bathtub until the water clears to keep sediment out of your hot water system or other household fixtures after the time period of flushing is complete.  Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
