Important information regarding upcoming changes to the Rubbish & Recycling Program

EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2019

Waste Management and the Town of Shrewsbury are proud to announce a new co-collection trash & recycling program. New enhanced recycling collection services will begin July 1, 2019. Shrewsbury residents should be receiving information in the mail by the end of May 2019. 


Also, effective July 1, 2019, the Solid Waste Program will fall under the Department of Public Works (DPW) and no longer under the Board of Health.


New Recycling Collection Program

Beginning Monday, July 1, 2019, Recycling will be picked up EVERY week. Alternating paper & cardboard on ORANGE weeks and bottles and cans on GRAY weeks. 

Trash and recycling will be collected at the same time and in the same truck. Waste Management will use co-collector trucks which are able to keep trash and recyclables separated. A detailed calendar will be mailed out to residents by the end of May 2019.


RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND ONE OF THE SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS LISTED BELOW:

Please feel free to attend any of the events listed below hosted by the Town of Shrewsbury with personnel from Waste Management in attendance to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the new collection programs:

  • Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. - Shrewsbury High School Presentation Room, 64 Holden Street
  • Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. - Shrewsbury Council on Aging, 98 Maple Avenue
  • Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. - Oak Middle School Auditorium, 45 Oak Street
  • Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. - Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main Street
