New fee schedules for Driveway, Trench on private property and Road Opening Permits have been in effect since January 1, 2019. Click here to see more details.

Three types of permits are required by the Highway Division: Driveway, Trench on a Private Property, and Road Opening Permits.

Permit Fees

New Fee schedules for Driveway, Trench, and Road Opening permits have been in effect since January 1st, 2019.

  • Driveway Permit - $50.
  • Trench on a Private Property - $25.
  • Road Opening Permit - $150.

Permit Application/Inspection Process:

     1.) Fill out the Application form for the permit type relevant to you (Driveway, Trench or Road Opening).

      2.) Bring all the requirements to our office:

      a.) Completed permit application. 

      b.) Permit Fee.

      c.) Proof of Workman's Compensation

      d.) Security Bond.

      e.) Additional $1,000.00 cash bond is required for Driveway and Road Opening Permits.

      3.) Scheduling Inspections

      a.) Call our office at 508-841-8513 to request an inspection, at least 24 hours in advance.

      b.) If the work is not ready for inspection, an additional fee of $100.00 will be imposed for reinspection. 

      c.) Inspection is required in order to get back the cash bond, 30 days after the inspection is passed. If repairing of the trench is in order, the Town reserves the right to subtract the                       repairing cost out of the cash bond.
