Main Street Reconstruction Project, PRC #602740
The Main Street Reconstruction Project seeks to improve roadway and pedestrian safety from the I-290 ramps to Maple Avenue through a more efficient and consistent road width, installation of sidewalks on both sides of the road, and improved signalization at the Old Mill Road and Ireta Road intersection.
The project consists of pavement rehabilitation, traffic signal reconstruction, new and/or reconstructed sidewalks, wheelchair ramp installation, installation and/or resetting of granite curbing, construction and/or rebuilding of retaining walls, drainage improvements, and associated signs and pavement markings.
The proposed roadway cross section consists of an 11-foot travel lane, and a 5-foot shoulder lane in each direction with accommodations’ for bicycles.

Binder coarse paving is scheduled for mid-June.
Anyone seeking to perform any water/sewer ties along Main Street from the I-290 Ramps to Maple Avenue should notify the Shrewsbury Department of Public Works - Engineering Division of such work. In addition, such work must be off the road by July 4th.

Expect some traffic delays on Main Street from the I-290 ramps to Maple Avenue.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

Top coarse paving is anticipated to start in early September.
The estimated time of substantial completion is November 2019.
