Major valve replacement was performed on our main transmission line yesterday, March 24th. This involved shutting down our treatment plant, wells and booster stations, and draining back part of our system. Even though we slowly re-pressurized our lines and flushed the area thoroughly, longer pumping times to replenish tank levels are needed. This extra pumping to restabilize has caused discolored water in certain areas of Town as the system builds up. The discoloration is existing material in the pipelines and we anticipate 1-2 days to refill all tanks. Unfortunately, any material needs to work through the system, and the areas affected are somewhat scattered in Town and not always adjacent to where the work was performed. If discolored water is encountered, please run cold water only from a downstairs bathtub or and outside faucet until clear. We apologize for any problems and anticipate clearing of lines over the next day.
