[ARCHIVED] Water Main Break

Earlier this morning at approximately 11:30 A. M.,a private contractor doing work in town, struck and broke a high pressure water main located on Blackthorn Road near the intersection with Northland Road. This incident has caused both service disruption, and water discoloration in adjacent areas. The repairs are underway and the service should be back to normal by approximately 5:30 P.M. this afternoon. Even though the line will be flushed, residents in these adjoining areas may still temporarily experience discolored water.

If you experience discolored water, please flush your cold water lines until they run clear. We recommend doing this from an outside faucet, or a first floor cold water fixture so as to not introduce discolored water throughout your residence.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Shrewsbury Water Department at 508-841-8506 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. Or visit our website at
