SPL COVID Updates

Resumption of Partial Services

As a precaution to help limit the spread of Coronavirus, the Library remains closed to the public. We are committed to meeting the State and Town of Shrewsbury guidelines while planning a phased reopening of the library. While ensuring the safety and well-being of staff and patrons, we are planning to resume partial services for the public.

Returning Materials:

  • Library patrons can now return checked out items that belong to the Shrewsbury Public Library Fridays from 9 AM – 4 PM. Materials may be returned in the book drop. Materials being returned will be quarantined and will not be checked in for 72 hours.  Dates and times may be subject to change.

Curbside Pickup:

  • Through this service, residents may request Shrewsbury library materials ahead of time to borrow and pick up outside the library.
  • Patrons can now place holds on books, audiobooks, CDs, video games, or DVDs through the C/W MARS system. Up to 10 holds can be placed on one library card. Please make sure you select items available in the Shrewsbury Public Library.
  • When you receive an email confirming that your hold is ready to pick up, you can schedule a time for pickup.  The library will cancel any curbside pickup appointment made before a hold notification e-mail has been sent.
  • Appointments for pickups can be made by clicking on the link “Scheduling Appointments for Curbside Pickup” on the library website. Patrons will have to enter their names, library card numbers and make, model and color of their cars for staff to be able to identify them.
  • This will be a no-contact transaction and bags will be ready for pickup on tables outside the library. Curbside pickup appointments will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays,  from 10 AM – 4 PM.
  • Patrons are required to wear a mask and maintain a 6' distance from others while picking up their materials.
  • The library plans on continuing this schedule for curbside pickup over the coming weeks, but said schedule is subject to change.
