Tax Collection

Motor Vehicle Excise

  • Due within 30 days of issue
  • Interest on unpaid balances accrues at a rate of 12% per annum beginning the day after the due date
  • Demand Notice:
    • $5 fee plus accrued interest
    • May be issued two business days following the original due date of the tax
    • Due within 14 days of issue

Bills outstanding after the demand notice was due move on in collection to Deputy Collector Kelley & Ryan. (https://www.kelleyryan.com/)

  • First warrant to collect taxes
    • Exhibition of the warrant to collect taxes: $10 plus accrued interest
    • Notice of first warrant to collect taxes: $12 plus accrued interest
  • Second warrant to collect taxes
    • Delivery service of second warrant to collect taxes: $17 plus accrued interest
  • Mark for non-renewal of registration and license at Registry of Motor Vehicles: $20

Boat Excise

  •  Due within 60 days of issue
  •   Delinquent bills subject to $20 fee

Real Estate Taxes

  •  Due quarterly within 30 days of issue and on the following schedule:
    • 1st Quarter: August 1st                              
    • 2nd Quarter: November 1st
    • 3rd Quarter: February 1st
    • 4th Quarter: May 1st
  • Interest on unpaid balances accrues at a rate of 14% per annum beginning the day after the due date
  • Delinquent balances following collection of 4th Quarter taxes are subject to a $5 demand fee and will receive a mailed demand notice to be paid within 14 days of issue

Personal Property Taxes

  • Due quarterly within 30 days of issue and on the following schedule:
    • 1st Quarter: August 1st                              
    • 2nd Quarter: November 1st
    • 3rd Quarter: February 1st
    • 4th Quarter: May 1st
  • Delinquent balances following collection of 4th Quarter taxes are subject to a $5 demand fee and will receive a mailed demand notice to be paid within 14 days of issue
Water and Sewer

  • The Town collects for water, sewer, and storm water chargers
  • Utility charges are billed quarterly and are due within 30 days of issue
  • Unpaid utility charges may be subject to lien and collection through the real estate tax bill
