Health Care Eligibility

Who is eligible to receive health care through the Veteran's Administration (VA) system?
Eligible Branches
Individuals with basic eligibility for Veteran's Administration health care received honorable discharge or release under honorable conditions and served on active duty in the:
  • Air Force
  • Army
  • Coast Guard
  • Marines
  • Navy
Those who served after 1980 must have served 24 months active duty to be eligible.

Services provided include:
  • All necessary inpatient and outpatient services
  • Diagnostic and treatment services as well as rehabilitation
  • Home health
  • Mental health treatment
  • Prescribed drugs
  • Preventive and primary care
  • Respite and hospice care
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Women's clinic
