Important Information Regarding Changes to Permits and Inspections

Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Inspections:
In an effort to follow the guidelines set in place by the CDC, we will now be conducting smoke/carbon monoxide detector inspections virtually. The homeowner/realtor should call Fire Headquarters (508-841-8522) at 8:00 am on the desired date of inspection. When calling, please have the complete address, along with year of construction or any substantial renovations or additions. At that time a virtual inspection via FaceTime will be scheduled.

Form to be completed upon completion of inspection:
Smoke Inspection Affidavit

Open Air Burn Permits:
Open air burn permit applications can be submitted via US mail or the drop box outside of Fire Headquarters, along with a check for $25 made payable to the Town of Shrewsbury. Click the link below for a printable version.

Responsibilities

As administrators of public safety, fire personnel must handle:
  • Collapses
  • Fires
  • Floods
  • Hurricanes
  • Medical emergencies
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Tornadoes

These events remain, as always, unscheduled and unpredictable. These incidents are time sensitive, life threatening, and labor intensive. You never know when they will occur, but when they do, you need lots of trained people immediately.
