Permitting Fees

Building Permits
Building permit fees for both residential and commercial projects are based on the value of the work to be performed. Our fee structure has been established by Town Meeting*.  The fee is calculated based upon the total cost listed on the Application for Permit to Build by the applicant.

Building Permit Fees

Permit Fees
Residential or Commercial Building Permit $10 per $1,000 of construction value.
(rounded up to the nearest whole $1,000)  Minimum fee is $25
Sheet Metal $10 per $1,000 of construction value.
(rounded up to the nearest whole $1,000) Minimum fee is $25
Re-Inspection (Contractor)
$50 per each re-inspection
Re-Inspection (Homeowner) First Re-Inspection is no charge,
$50 per each subsequent re-inspection
Notes:  a quick way to calculate permit costs is to round up your "total cost" to the nearest thousand (e.g. $4,500 becomes $5,000), then divide that "total cost" of work by 100.

EX: Total value of work is $4,500. Calculate using rounded up figure $5,000/100=50.
The building fee would be $50.
