Commission on Disabilities

The purpose of the Shrewsbury Commission on Disabilities is to bring about full and equal participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. It works to assure the advancement of legal rights and for the promotion of maximum opportunities, supportive services, accommodations, and accessibility in a manner which fosters dignity and self-determination. Meetings are open to the public and additional meetings may be held as necessary.

About the Commission

The Commission on Disabilities is a 7 person committee appointed by the Town Manager for 3 year, staggered terms. The Commission functions as part of MGL Ch. 40 Sec. 8J.

  • Achievement of barrier free environment
  • Elimination of discrimination against people with disabilities
  • Improvement of delivery of municipal services
  • Promotion of awareness of the needs of people with disabilities
